THE ANNUAL KICKS FOR A CURE WEEKEND
April 22-23, 2022
The annual event is “kicked off” with an auction and program on Friday night at the Omaha Marriott Downtown, followed by exciting local high school and college soccer matches on Saturday.
The Kicks for a Cure weekend honors Liz Karnes and her love of soccer. Traditionally Saturday’s soccer games (featuring local teams) offer an opportunity for families to cheer on the athletes and spread awareness for a great and important cause. For the second year, we are also proud to partner with the Alliance Soccer Tournament where over 75 youth teams will compete. The tournament will be held May 7-8, 2022 in Springfield, NE. Proceeds raised from the tournament will be directed to local pediatric cancer research.
Funds from the auction and event go directly to cancer research at the Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center and the Hereditary Cancer Center at Creighton University in Omaha. In 2022, the event raised $420,000! Past events total an impressive $4,100,000.
2022 Annual Soccer Clinic
Kicks for a Cure, in partnership with Soccer for the World, held our annual soccer clinic inconjuction with our annual event. Players from the Creighton men and women soccer teams ran the clinic on Friday, April 22. Local organizations that had kids participate were Girls, Inc.; NorthStar; and Completely Kids.

2022 Dave Karnes Inspiration Award Winner
The Karnes Family
The Dave Karnes Inspiration Award (previously The Inspiration Award) was renamed in 2022 to honor Kicks for a Cure’s late co-founder, Dave Karnes. Dave passed away in late 2020 from cancer. Kicks for a Cure was honored to present his family with the first award for 2022 as they have played just as large of a part in our organization as Dave had.
The Dave Karnes Inspiration Award is presented to an individual, family or group that has contributed significantly to the success of the KFAC event and its efforts to increase cancer awareness locally and statewide.
THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR SPONSORS FOR MAKING THIS WEEKEND A POSSIBILITY. WE ARE EXTREMELY GRATEFUL TO HAVE SUCH OUTSTANDING PARTNERS IN THE OMAHA COMMUNITY TO SUPPORT KICKS FOR A CURE!
